Chain-Agnostic Token (CAT)

The Chain-Agnostic Token (CAT) standard is where tokens are native to multiple chains and fungible across chains. This industry-defining standard enables tokens to not only exist in silos, but rather in a connected manner across all blockchains.

This solves the complexities of wrapping or double wrapping when a token is transferred across chains. With the CAT standard, when Token XYZ is sent from Blockchain A to Blockchain B, it is acknowledged as the same token.

Token supply of the CATs also exist dynamically across all blockchains. When tokens of any type are transferred from one chain to another, an equal amount is burned on the origin chain while being minted on the destination chain.

The CAT standard allows for developers to build in a unified, cross-chain ecosystem, where people are not limited to the experience of individual blockchains and can take advantage of Web3 on a broader scale.

How can Chain-Agnostic Tokens (CATs) be deployed?

Both new and existing tokens and NFTs can be deployed as with the CAT standard using our product CAT xMint.

We have developed two implementations for deploying CATs:

  • CAT V1: Available for new tokens/NFTs with a burn + mint mechanism

  • CAT V2: Available for existing tokens/NFTs with a lock + mint mechanism

With the CAT standard, projects are also able to add integrated chains at any stage, making it a seamless experience to expand or migrate to other chains at any time.
